London to St Ives Train

Picture of London to St Ives Train

Join the train at Paddington Station, London. Book early and sit on the left-hand side to get the breathtaking views of the Riviera Coast.

Journey can be booked to St Erth station if options not available for St Ives. This is the local mainline station and a taxi can easily be booked to collect you to drive the last 15mins to St Ives.

Travel time between London and St Ives is approximately 6 hours so please factor this is to your arrival.

By road

Travelling from London, the quickest route is via the M4 past Heathrow. However, if you have the time and inclination the M3 turns onto the A303, a beautiful scenic route past Stonehenge. From Yorkshire drive to the West towards Manchester or Birmingham and join the M5.

All routes join the M5 and once just past Exeter, turn off at junction 31 for the A30 heading towards Devon. Follow A30 to roundabout at Hayle and take the 2nd exit to Nut Lane and A3074 to St Ives town.

If you’d prefer to break the journey, Cheltenham, Gloucester or Bristol are about half way from Yorkshire. From London popular places to stop are the Cottswolds or Bath.

Flights to U.K. Airports

If flying from Australia, most likely you will arrive in London. The journey from here can be made by hire car or by train (please note both journeys will take 6+ hours so please leave plenty of time).

If flying from Europe or another part of the U.K. the nearest airport is Newquay although there are limited carriers who fly to this destination. Travel time to St. Ives is approximately 1 hour by taxi or train.

Bristol is 3.5+ hours and Exeter 2.5+ hours from St Ives but again flight pathways from Europe are limited so plan accordingly.
